What is the internet

The internet is a global network of computers. They use common "language" called TCP/IP. Every computer use an IP address.

How it works

Do you need to know how your packets of internet data are transmitted through a variety of cables, routers and host computers to their destination.

Different packets can take different routes, which makes the internet relatively resilient.

The internet data packets also carry different types of data for different applications. Common types include web pages, email messages, and large files that might be digital vidfeos, music files or computer programs.

Today, the web is often used to provide an easy-to-use interface for numerous applications, including email or file transfer.

Origins of the net

The internet traces its origins to the ARPAnet, created by the US Defence Department's Advanced Research Projects Agency in the 1960s.

Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn developed TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol), to connect different networks.

At the end of 1969, there were only four computers on ARPAnet, and they were all at US universities.

Global domination

Web browsers have made the internet easy enough for anyone to use.
now the internet access is becoming popular on mobile phones.

How does the web work?

The web is a system for publishing pages on the internet.

Anyone can publish a page by uploading it to a web server. Anyone can read that page by typing the address into a web browser.

You don't need to enter all the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of a web page, because web pages can include links or hyperlinks.

Speaking Activity

Social Networks

Email

hardly ever use my email, to send some music to my account or to contact with somebody. But you can also send files, small files, because it doesn't allow to send big files.

Facebook

Facebook isn't the website that I always use, but I sometimes use it to speak with my cousin or look at some photos that have posted my friends.

Youtube

always use it , every day, to watch videos of the Youtubers who I follow. I spend a lot of time watching videos, sometimes I look at the comment section to see what other people think about this video, I hardly ever leave a comment in a video. To leave a comment you need to have an account in Youtube, also to follow someone, you need to have an account.

INTRODUCTION

Hi! Hello!

My name is Miki and I have a sister. I'm 16 years old and in November I will be 17. I live in Les Planes. I'm from Poland, and I live in Spain since 2008. When I was younger, I had a dog. but now he is dead. 1 year ago, I bought another dog, but smaller, and he is alive.

I went to school in Les Planes, CEIP Sant Cristòfol, and then to the high school in IES Castell d'Estela in Amer. Now I study in Bosc de la Coma.

In my free time I like playing video games, watching TV or surfing on the Internet, because I enjoy it. I don't like sport or reading books because it's boring.

This summer I have been doing my homework.

When I go on holiday I spend a lot of time with my family.

I am medium height with short hair and blue eyes. I like wearing comfortable clothes.
